Ways to Give

Dear Friends and Neighbors

At the Springfield Family Center (SFC), we believe that no one in our community should go hungry, feel forgotten, or be left behind. Thanks to your generosity, we’ve been able to serve thousands of neighbors with compassion, dignity, and hope.

But today, we need your help more than ever.

Over the past year, more people have walked through our doors, some for the first time, others returning because they’ve simply run out of options. Seniors struggling to stretch fixed incomes. Single parents skipping meals so their children can eat. Families working full-time yet still unable to afford groceries. These are not strangers, they are our neighbors, our friends, our community.

In Springfield, the need is urgent.

  • Our town’s poverty rate is 19.4%, nearly double the state average.

  • 7% of residents live in subsidized housing, compared to 3.3% statewide.

  • More than 30% of households are cost-burdened, spending so much on rent that food becomes a luxury.

As the need grows, funding and support opportunities are declining, placing more pressure on local nonprofits like SFC to bridge the gap.

We’ve stepped up. In the past year alone, we have:

  • Stocked a school pantry so no child goes hungry at night or on weekends.

  • Placed emergency meals at the town library and with community partners for after-hours access.

  • Continued offering hot meals, groceries, and support to anyone who walks through our doors.

But it’s not enough.

Our resources are stretched thin, and the demand is growing every day. With your help, we can continue to rise to the challenge.

As we launch our Annual Campaign, we invite you to stand with us. Please consider making a donation of any amount or becoming a sustaining donor to support this vital work month after month. Your gift provides more than food; it delivers hope, relief, and a reminder that someone cares.

You can give securely online

or by mail at 130 Springfield plaza Road Springfield, VT 05156

See below for all the ways you can support our work.

Together, we can make sure that no one in our community goes hungry or faces life alone. Thank you for being part of this community and believing in a better, more compassionate tomorrow.

With gratitude,
Trisha Paradis
Executive Director

Help Stock the School Pantry

When school is in session, we work on making sure our youngest community members have access to the adequate nutrition that they need to learn and grow!  Lack of healthy and nutritious food for children during their critical developmental years leads to more negative results. According to Feed the Children, not only does food insecurity translate to lower math and reading scores, it can also lead to more absences and tardiness. In fact, food-insecure students are less likely to graduate high school. The Springfield Family Center  works to combat childhood hunger by stocking a food pantry in a local elementary school.  Please consider helping us keep this stocked throughout the year!

Are you a gardener?  Do you have extra produce you can't use at home?  Consider donating it!

Perhaps consider planting an extra row of vegetables annually earmarked to help combat hunger!

Here at the Springfield Family Center we offer fresh produce as often as we can either in one of our prepared meals or for folks to use at home!

Buy a Day, Make a Difference!

Support Springfield Family Center with “Buy a Day; Make a Difference!”

With Springfield Family Center’s recent move to a more accessible location, we're experiencing a surge in demand for our charitable food resources. Unfortunately, this increased need coincides with decreased funding opportunities. As an organization dedicated to providing free food, we rely solely on town appropriation, grants, and fundraising events to sustain our charitable food programs.

To help meet the rising demands, we’re excited to introduce a new way for individuals to support our mission: “Buy a Day; Make a Difference!”

Here’s how it works:

  • Purchase a Calendar Day: Honor yourself or someone special by purchasing a day on our calendar, which will provide up to 30 meals for food-insecure neighbors.
  • Public Recognition:  The honoree will be publicly recognized on their chosen day as a vital partner in our efforts to combat hunger in the community.

This is a unique way to celebrate a birthday, anniversary, or special occasion by gifting hope and sustenance to those in need.

Lead the Way! Spread the word about your special day! Any donations made on that day will be matched up to $100.

Secure Your Day by:

  • Email SFCbuyaday@gmail.com with the date you would like reserved, the name and contact of the honoree as well as the occasion by which you are honoring them.
  • Make a one-time gift of $100 to the Springfield Family Center.
  • Alternatively, become a sustaining donor for just $10/month.

For more information or to purchase your day, please email us at: SFCbuyaday@gmail.com.

Together, we can make a difference!

The impact of your generosity!

Without food, people cannot work or prosper, children cannot learn or thrive. When we have enough to eat, our community is stronger and healthier as a whole. Every Vermonter deserves dignified access to food that nourishes their family!
